Kendrick Lamar and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith to produce Black Panther: The Album

January 5, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Marvel has announced that Grammy Award-winner Kendrick Lamar and Billboard Magazine’s Executive of the Year, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith are set to curate and produce Black Panther: The Album, featuring music from and inspired by Marvel Studios’ upcoming superhero blockbuster.

The album will feature the lead single, “All The Stars,” featuring Kendrick Lamar and label mate SZA, produced by Sounwave. Lamar and Tiffith will also collaborate with director Ryan Coogler  in the creation of music specific to the needs of the film, marking the first time in Marvel Cinematic Universe history that Marvel Studios will integrate multiple original recordings created specifically for the movie.

“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director,” said Lamar. “The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.”

When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakandan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

Black Panther sees Ryan Coogler (Creed) directing Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa alongside Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Forest Whitaker as Zuri, Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Martin Freeman as Everett Ross, Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue, Letitia Wright as Shuri and Nabiyah Be as Nightshade.
