Ahead of its U.K. release this coming Friday, Disney-Pixar’s Coco has pushed its worldwide box office haul beyond $600 million, with the film having earned $196.5 domestically and a further $425.2 million internationally for a total of $621.7 million and counting.
Directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, Coco follows an aspiring musician who, confronted with his family’s ancestral ban on music, embarks on a journey to the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-great grandfather, a legendary singer.
Coco is Disney-Pixar’s eighth-highest grossing release, and will go on to surpass The Incredibles ($633 million) by close of play this week. Next up in its sights are Up and Monsters University, which grossed $735.1 million and $744.2 million respectively.

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
