Black Panther has broken Marvel IMAX pre-sales records

February 13, 2018 by Samuel Brace

The Marvel record for IMAX pre-sales has been broken by Black Panther, with buzz for the movie continuing to swell.

Folks are pretty excited about Black Panther, the movie has received overwhelming praise by critics and its opening weekend is expected to be up there with the best Marvel has had to offer.

More good news can also be found for the studio as Black Panther has managed dominate IMAX pre-sales, breaking past Marvel records by becoming the studio’s biggest ever seller of advance tickets.

Imax Entertainment CEO Greg Foster sounded very impressed when he spoke to Variety, and doesn’t expect things to slow down either: “We have a movie that has clearly captured the zeitgeist. Pre-sales are the surest way to see how momentum is going: The momentum is gathering steam as opposed to slowing down.”

Foster also added: “A movie often peaks 10 days before it opens. This movie feels like it’s going to peak the day it opens. It’s remarkable.”

It will be interesting to see what the final numbers for Black Panther turn out to be, and of course, just how audiences respond to the picture.
