Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy casts Colm Feore and more

February 18, 2018 by Ricky Church

Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy adaptation has just gained several more members for its cast. According to Deadline, the series has added Colm Feore (House of Cards), Cameron Britton (Mindhunter) and Adam Godley (Breaking Bad) in regular roles and Ashley Madekwe (Revenge) in a recurring role.

Feore will portray Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a world-renowned billionaire industrialist and eccentric inventor and the adoptive father of seven children who were born under mysterious circumstances and have supernatural abilities. Hargreeves trained and manipulated his children throughout their childhood into a dysfunctional team of young superheroes.

Britton will play Hazel, a time-travelling hitman who assassinate targets in different decades. He’s enjoyed his job for many years, but is now losing enthusiasm for what he does. This puts him at odds with his partner Cha-Cha, played by Mary J. Blige.

Godley will play the voiceover/motion-capture role of Pogo, a genetically engineered, tweed jacket-wearing, talking chimpanzee. He is an aide and friend to the Hargreeve children and Sir Reginald’s trusted companion that tries to keep the children together.

Madekwe is Detective Patch, a driven member of the police department that plays by the book. She’s attempting to solve several crimes in the city that is making her rise through the ranks. However, she doesn’t have sympathy to vigilantism – putting her at odds with a certain sibling of the Umbrella Academy.

The series is based on the graphic novels from My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá with the adaptation written by Jeremy Slater.

The Umbrella Academy follows the dysfunctional family of the Hargreeves, a group of young superheroes that come together in order to solve their father’s mysterious murder. Ellen Page (Flatliners) stars as Vanya, Tom Hopper (Black Sails) as Luther, Emmy Raver-Lampman (Broadway’s Hamilton) as Allison, David Castañeda (Soldado) as Diego, Robert Sheehan (Misfits) as Klaus and Aidan Gallagher (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn) as Number Five.
