The Terror author’s dystopian novel Flashback in development as TV series

February 25, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With an adaptation of his novel The Terror set to premiere on AMC next month, Deadline is reporting that another of author Dan Simmons’ books is heading to the small screen.

StartUp creator Ben Ketai is in development on a TV adaptation of the dystopian novel Flashback, which “takes place in a day-after-tomorrow Los Angeles with a society unmoored by the hyper-addictive drug ‘Flashback.’ A former police detective is offered as much of the drug as he wants…if he uses it to solve a long forgotten murder, one that could reveal the truth of where this drug really came from. And why.”

Ketai is writing the series, as well as executive producing with Hollywood Gang’s Gianni Nunnari and Shannon Gaulding and Critical Content’s Tom Forman and Ray Ricord.

The Terror will premiere on AMC in the US on Monday March 26th 2018 and on AMC on BT TV in the UK on April 24th and features a cast that includes Jared Harris, Adam Nagaitis, Ciaran Hinds, and Tobias Menzies.
