A new Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventure arrives from Big Finish

February 5, 2025 by Andrew Newton

For those of you seeking more Third Doctor adventures, Big Finish Productions has released Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventures: Doctor Who and the Brain Drain, the first Third Doctor adventure of 2025.  This new audio adventure takes listeners to Scotland with Liz Shaw and the Brigadier.  A new video can be seen below taking viewers behind the scenes of the production of this latest audio drama.

The recently exiled Third Doctor’s is settling down to his role as UNIT’s scientific advisor when he, along with Dr Liz Shaw and Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart are suddenly sent to Scotland for a symposium at an imposing Scottish castle.  It is here that Professor MacLeod and her son have announced a new treatment for memory loss and a possible cure for dementia, but this new treatment seems to have some connection to the sightings of strange mythical creatures in the grounds and an assortment of ghosts that are roaming the castle’s corridors. Can the Doctor and his team discover what is happening to the energy produced by the MacLeods’ treatment? And what is the strange creature roaming the castle’s grounds?

Tim Treloar once again takes the role of the Third Doctor in this brand-new seven-part story by Richard James and Nicholas Briggs.  Joining Tim Treloar are Daisy Ashford as Dr Liz Shaw, Jon Culshaw as the Brigadier, Rosalyn Landor as Professor Abigail MacLeod, Callum Pardoe as Linus MacLeod, Susan Harrison as Dr Fiona Lynch/June Wellesley, Glen McCready as Professor Albert Heber/The Steward/Andrew Wellesley, Mark Elstob as Peter Macleod/Nelophex and Milo Ratter as Crouch.

Doctor Who – The Third Doctor Adventures: Doctor Who and the Brain Drain is now available from the Big Finish website as a limited run Collector’s Edition CD box set and digital download for £24.99, or a digital download only for £19.99. Bundles are available on the site for those who want to purchase this and 2025’s second Third Doctor Adventures box set coming in October.
