A Wicked! new Doctor Who adventure for the Seventh Doctor and Ace arriving in October

August 31, 2025 by Andrew Newton

A brand-new audio drama box is heading to Big Finish this October, bringing more adventures for the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) and Ace Sophie Aldred). Doctor Who – The Seventh Doctor Adventures: Wicked! takes the listener back to the early days of Ace’s time in the TARDIS.

Doctor Who – The Seventh Doctor Adventures: Wicked! features three new adventures that take place shortly after Ace joins the Doctor aboard the TARDIS. These new adventures are:

Backwards and in Heels by Alison Winter – Having met the Doctor on Iceworld, Ace joins him in taking the scenic route home to Perivale, but when they arrive in 1920s Soho she begins to wonder if she has made the right decision.

The Price of Snow by Katharine Armitage – When the Doctor and Ace arrive at the exclusive Val du Cam Belle ski, they begin to notice strange things, such as the sun being too hot and the shade being too dark. There’s something sinister beneath the snowy slopes, and the pair are determined to find out.

Finally, in The Ingenious Gentlemen by Alan Ronald, the time travellers journey to 15th-century Spain where they encounter another odd pairing of adventurers, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. Is all as it seems between these two?

This third story in the box set features the voice talents of the award-winning Simon Callow as Don Quixiote. Other voice actors in this box set are Alexandra Barredo, Luke Barton, Paulo Vieira, Sophie Kennedy Clark, and Tom Alexander.

Simon Callow plays the idealistic dreamer Don Quixote

Simon Callow said: “Don Quixote and Sancho Panza are one of the great double acts of our culture, like Laurel and Hardy! Don Quixote is, as always, looking for demons and bad people to slay because he believes he is a knight whose duty is to save people in distress. But it’s a great break for him when he encounters the Doctor. They’re absolutely on the same page – they prove to be soulmates, which is very touching.”

Doctor Who – The Seventh Doctor Adventures: Wicked! will be available from the Big Finish website this October. Fans can either purchase the digital version at £19.99 or £24.99 for the download and limited collector’s edition 3-disc CD box set. Bundles are also available from the site.
