Aaron Taylor-Johnson joins Chris Pine in Outlaw King

July 31, 2017 by Amie Cranswick

Deadline is reporting that Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to join Chris Pine in Outlaw King, the new film from Starred Up and Hell or High Water director David Mackenzie.

The Netflix film will see Pine as Robert the Bruce, the Scottish king and national hero who led his country during the First War of Scottish Independence against England. Taylor-Johnson will take on the role of James Douglas (initially earmarked for Pine’s Hell or High Water co-star Ben Foster), Robert’s right-hand man. Production on the film is slated to begin this August in Scotland.

Taylor-Johnson was most recently seen in Doug Liman’s Iraq War thriller The Wall. Pine meanwhile will next be seen in Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle in Time, and has just signed on to reunite with his Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins on the TV series One Day She’ll Darken.
