ABC cancels Agent Carter and passes on Marvel’s Most Wanted

May 13, 2016 by James Garcia

We’ve been hearing for a while now that the future of two Marvel television shows – Agent Carter and Marvel’s Most Wanted – were grim. And now it’s been confirmed.

At the television upfronts presentation today, ABC announced its various renewals and cancellations (via THR), and both of the aforementioned Marvel series didn’t make the cut. Agent Carter has officially been cancelled after two seasons due to a low audience ratings, while the network has passed on Marvel’s Most Wanted, the proposed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff centering on Adrianne Palicki’s Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse, and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter. The show was to be developed and written by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell and writer Paul Zbyszewski, and had Jeph Loeb on board as executive producer.

While we’ll likely see Mockingbird and Lance again on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Peggy Carter’s future seems uncertain, especially after the events of Captain America: Civil War. Perhaps there is still room to see her in flashbacks, a la Ant-Man? The scope of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is wide, so anything is possible.

ABC also cancelled The Muppets.
