Alan Moore is now sending his DC royalties to charity

September 18, 2023 by EJ Moreno

When it comes to Alan Moore, you know every interview he does will offer a goldmine of memorable quotes.

His latest chat with a publication is insightful as always and gave us a new look at how Moore plans to spend the royalties he’ll make off his various DC-related projects over the years.

During his recent discussion with The Telegraph, Moore was asked if there was any truth to the claims that he gives the money he makes from film and TV series and divides it among the writers and other artists.

He tells the outlet, “I no longer wish it to even be shared with them. I don’t really feel, with the recent films, that they have stood by what I assumed were their original principles. So I asked for DC Comics to send all of the money from any future TV series or films to Black Lives Matter.”

As no surprise, Moore notes he has no desire for money and lives a quiet life in Northampton. He’s been very vocal about all things superhero-related these past few years, even going as far as calling comic book movies a “blight” on cinema.

In The Telegraph interview, he even goes as far as saying that the desire he once had to create work within the genre is now gone.

For those unfamiliar, Alan Moore is the creator of famed works such as Watchmen, From Hell, and V for Vendetta. He’s also penned work for several DC projects, including Batman: The Killing Joke, Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?, and helped reinvent Swamp Thing for a modern audience.
