Annabelle Comes Home director to helm Stephen King adaptation Salem’s Lot

April 11, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having signed on to write the script back in 2019, Annabelle Comes Home director Gary Dauberman has now closed a deal to helm New Line Cinema’s big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s vampire novel Salem’s Lot.

Dauberman has plenty of experience with Warner Bros. and New Line’s horror output, having penned the likes of It and It Chapter Two as well as The Conjuring Universe instalments Annabelle, Annabelle Creation, Annabelle Comes Home and The Nun. He made his directorial debut on last year’s Annabelle Come Home.

Published back in 1975, King’s second novel follows an author who returns to his hometown, where he comes to discover that the townsfolk are slowly being turned into vampires.

Salem’s Lot was previously adapted for the small screen back in 1979, with Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre) directing and David Soul leading the cast.
