Baby Yoda won’t appear in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, reveals J.J. Abrams

December 18, 2019 by Samuel Brace

J.J. Abrams, the director of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, says Baby Yoda doesn’t make an appearance.

While The Mandalorian has gone down a treat with fans thanks to its classic Star Was vibe and cool central character, one of the most beloved aspects has certainly turned out to be the adorable little character known as Baby Yoda.

The fans are obsessed with the little guy and considering his age and the show’s setting after Return of the Jedi, it is technically possible for the character to appear in Episode IX. However, director J.J. Abrams has shot down hopes of this happening:

“Baby Yoda is not in this movie.” However, the director made sure to add: “[He’s] the cutest thing in the history of time. How do you deny Baby Yoda? You cannot.”

We will just have to wait for more episodes of The Mandalorian to get our fix of Baby Yoda. Though, hopefully, Episode IX has few surprises up its sleeve none the less!

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
