Bill Hader joins Steven Spielberg’s The BFG

Bill Hader (Saturday Night Live, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) has signed on to appear in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the Road Dahl classic The BFG, where he’ll play one of the fearsome residents of Giant Country.

Spielberg is directing The BFG from a script by Melissa Mathison (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial), with Tony Award winner Mark Rylance portraying the Big Friendly Giant and newcomer Ruby Barnhill starring as the young protagonist Sophie.

Filming on The BFG got underway this past week, and the film is set to land in cinemas on July 1st, 2016.
