Carrie Coon joins Steven McQueen’s Widows

The Leftovers and Fargo star Carrie Coon has become the latest addition to the cast of Widows, the next film from acclaimed director Steve McQueen (Shame, 12 Years a Slave). Coon will start work on the film once she completes production on The Papers for director Steven Spielberg.

Widows is based upon the 1983 Lynda La Plante crime series has been scripted by Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn. It follows a group of  women who team up to complete a heist when their husbands are killed on the job. Coon will play one of the widows who declines to join the heist.

Production on Widows is set to get underway this summer, with a cast that includes Viola Davis, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Carrie Coon, Daniel Kaluuya, Andre Holland, Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Robert Duvall and Garret Dillahunt.
