Check out Air New Zealand’s final Middle-earth inspired safety video featuring Elijah Wood

October 23, 2014 by Gavin Logan

For the past three years Air New Zealand has worked diligently with Peter Jackson and company to help promote The Hobbit trilogy in conjunction with its airline and the latest – and final – campaign video has been released in the guise of an on-board safety video.

This is the second time a Hobbit-themed safety video has been created and this one features some familiar faces including Elijah Wood, Sylvester McCoy, Dean O’Gorman, Richard Taylor and Peter Jackson.

Check the video out here…

The short film was directed by Kiwi director Taika Waititi (Flight of the Conchords) who also makes a brief appearance as Gandalf the Wizard. Jodi Williams, the head of global brand development for Air New Zealand had this to say:

“We are very proud to be the official airline of Middle-earth and have worked hard over the past three years to create highly effective global marketing campaigns, including distinctive branded aircraft and Hobbit-inspired online content, which have got the world talking about both our airline and destination New Zealand…We’re confident our final Hobbit-inspired on board safety video will delight fans as much as the first one and inspire even more people to consider a visit to Middle-earth”

Peter Jackson took time to praise the airline and all it’s hard work helping not only to promote The Hobbit but also the country:

“Air New Zealand has created yet another fantastic video to celebrate The Hobbit films…This latest offering combines members of our cast and our locations with Air New Zealand’s unique personality. I had a lot of fun on the set with Taika and the team and look forward to seeing the video on board.”

The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies is released December 12th in the UK and December 17th in the USA
