Classic Doctors to meet more New Monsters in Doctor Who: Faithful Friends box set

November 19, 2024 by Andrew Newton

The classic Doctors will be meeting some more new monsters in a new full-cast audio box set coming from Big Finish in January 2025.  Doctor Who – Classic Doctors New Monsters: Faithful Friends will feature four new adventures for the Second, Fourth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors as they encounter some of the aliens and monsters from the post-2005 series of Doctor Who.

Faithful Friends features the following four stories:

  • The Krillitane Feint by John Dorney
  • The Dying Breed by Tim Foley
  • The Krillitane Relic by John Dorney
  • Five Hundred Ways to Leave Your Lover by Tim Foley

As you may have noticed, two of these tales feature the Krillitane, the demonic bat-like creatures encountered by the Tenth Doctor in the 2006 episode School Reunion. Now, these fearsome creatures will be causing trouble for the Second Doctor (played by Michael Troughton) in The Krillitane Feint.  Michael Troughton is joined by Frazer Hines as Jamie and Wendy Padbury as Zoe. There’s also trouble in store for the Seventh Doctor (with Sylvester McCoy reprising his role) and Sara Griffiths as Ray in The Krillitane Relic.

Writer John Dorney said “The Krillitane are a really fascinating monster, with their unique ability to steal traits from other species, but that also means they’re really challenging to bring back, because by definition they have to be doing something new every time. They can’t even look like they did in School Reunion!”

The other two adventures will feature the Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker), Leela (Louise Jameson) and K9 (John Leeson) meet the Lupari and Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor tackling the Monks. More information on these two adventure will be released in the future.

Doctor Who – Classic Doctors New Monsters: Faithful Friends is available to pre-order now from Big Finish as a a collector’s edition 4-disc CD box set and digital download for £30.99 or digital download only for £24.99.
