Colin Farrell is in no rush to do a second season of The Penguin

February 25, 2025 by Matt Rodgers

As Colin Farrell cobbles, sorry gobbles up all of the awards for his prosthetic laden performance as The Penguin, the actor continues to distance himself from a second season of the critically acclaimed Batman spin-off.

Speaking backstage following his latest triumph at the SAG Awards, Farrell told Variety that “I don’t want it. I don’t not want it,” when asked about a sophomore season. “We all left it in the ring in those eight hours. I would hate to, just because of a quote-unquote success, have to go again and for it to be a diluted version of what people seem to feel it is, majoritively. So I’m in no rush. I have no deep desire to do it. … Sure, if they think of something that works in conjunction as a parallel to Matt Reeves’ cinematic universe and it’s a good idea, I’m open to it. But it’s not something concerning me.”

Farrell has spoken before about the toll his 800-pound make-up took on him, so its unsurprising that he is reluctant to jump straight back into the Oswald Cobblepot outfit. He has previously revealed that he has signed on to star in three Batman films, and while he is rumoured to be part of the sequel, he doesn’t know for sure if he will appear in the second Matt Reeves installment, which has just been pushed back to October 1st, 2027.

Let us know what you thought of The Penguin, and whether you’d be eager to see Farrell reprise his role in The Batman Part II by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
