Crystal Kingdom Dizzy remastered and released for Easter!

April 16, 2017 by Villordsutch

To welcome in this Easter morning there is nothing better than been handed a special egg that has been lovingly crafted to make you feel rather happy.  Most of us are just a-ok with the latest offering for Mars or Smarties, but for the Retrogaming community to awaken and discover that a classic Dizzy title has been reworked and delivered onto the ZX Spectrum – for Easter Morning – that is really something egg-stra special.

Crystal Kingdom Dizzy was released way back in 1992 on multiple machines both 8-bit and 16bit, including the ZX Spectrum, C64, Atari St and the Amiga.  The little happy egg with boxing gloves for arms from The Oliver Twins kept such titles as Street Fighter 2 and Rainbow Islands from the top of the gaming sales charts.  Now twenty-five years later – and ready for Easter – a completely remastered ZX Spectrum version has been released to download for free.

Programmed by Evgeniy Barskiy and with in-game graphics by Dmitri Ponomarjov this new version of Crystal Kingdom Dizzy features:

– New original 50 FPS engine, written from scratch
– New original graphics, inspired by Amiga version
– Unbelievable loading screen
– Colourful and detailed illustrations between levels
– 136 totally reworked locations
– 6 beautiful AY-melodies
– Detailed uncut scenery texts from Amiga.

It can downloaded for free here and to play it you’ll need a ZX Spectrum 128/+2/+2A, but if you don’t have one of those get an ZX Spectrum Emulator like Fuse or Spectaculator.

For more details on the remastered version of Crystal Kingdom Dizzy visit the ZXArt here.
