Big Finish has revealed that David Tennant will return as the Tenth Doctor in a brand-new 15-episode full-cast audio drama series set to start next year. Fans of the Tenth Doctor will be able to get the first of these episodes from summer 2027, and the first 12 episodes will release bi-monthly, with a three-part box set to conclude the series.
David Tennant, who played the beloved Tenth Doctor from 2005 to 2010, returned briefly in the show’s 2013 fiftieth anniversary, and recently returned to become the Fourteenth Doctor in the sixtieth anniversary alongside Ncuti Gatwa (and is now ‘parked’ with Donna Noble’s family in a form of retirement).
As of yet, no details have been revealed as to what adventure the Tenth Doctor will face, nor who he will be travelling with (if anyone), but his return in these 15 hour-long episodes is sure to excite fans.
On his return to the TARDIS, David Tennant said: “Big Finish makes it dangerously easy – you turn up, have a lovely time, and suddenly you’ve saved the universe again.”
David Tennant and Nicholas Briggs
Nicholas Briggs, Big Finish’s creative director, added: “We’re always on the look-out for David to return. But we’re always ready and waiting with new stories to tell and now he’s back and we’re loving every minute of it. Get ready for a rollercoaster ride during these new adventures. They’re fast, funny, scary audio dramas with surprises from the very first episode.”
The 12-part The Tenth Doctor Adventures is available to pre-order now at £9.99 for the download and £13.99 for download and collector’s edition CD (this price is per each hour-long episode), or as a bundle for £102 (download) and £132 (download and CDs). The final three episodes are available to be pre-ordered in a new box set, so be sure to check out the Big Finish website for the details on all their bundles.
