Disney’s Bob Iger reiterates that X-Men, Fantastic Four and Deadpool are “part of Marvel Studios”

August 7, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Since the historic merger between between the Walt Disney Company and 20th Century Fox, the one question fans have been asking is if Fox’s Marvel characters will be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During Disney’s Q3 earnings call, CEO Bob Iger reiterated that the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool are “part of Marvel Studios”, although he did not say how they would be introduced.

We already knew that the X-Men and Fantastic Four are being integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to confirmation by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige at SDCC. However, there was still questions being asked about the current state of the R-rated Deadpool series. With speculation that the Merc with the Mouth is to remain under the Fox banner, we now know Deadpool is to be transitioned to the Marvel Studios banner. Again, no word if this means Deadpool will be implemented into the MCU, if his solo franchise is to continue, or if the R-rating still stands.

“The truth is, I’m excited for all of [the characters].” Feige said in an interview earlier this year with MTV News. “I’m excited, and it’s not just the marquee names you know — there are hundreds of names on those documents, on those agreements. And the fact that Marvel is as close as we may ever get now to having access to all of the characters, is something I’ve been dreaming about for my almost 20 years at Marvel. And it’s very exciting.”
