Evil Dead Rise image offers first look at new protagonists

December 8, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

The Evil Dead franchise returns in just a few short months, and it’s heading out of the woods and into the city with Evil Dead Rise, the latest chapter in the legendary horror series.

We’re yet to see a trailer for this newest Ash-free instalment, which is directed by Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground) and produced by original Evil Dead trio of Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert, but after unveiling a first-look at one of the film’s Deadites for Halloween, we’ve now got our second official image, this time offering a peek at our new protagonists.

For the Deadites who weren’t able to make it to BruceFest this year, I’m very excited to share this shot of the family from Evil Dead Rise. See them come together or be torn apart only in theaters April 21. #EvilDeadRise @EvilDead pic.twitter.com/VvnECjH164

In the fifth Evil Dead film, a road-weary Beth pays an overdue visit to her older sister Ellie, who is raising three kids on her own in a cramped L.A apartment. The sisters’ reunion is cut short by the discovery of a mysterious book deep in the bowels of Ellie’s building, giving rise to flesh-possessing demons, and thrusting Beth into a primal battle for survival as she is faced with the most nightmarish version of motherhood imaginable.

Featuring in the cast of Evil Dead Rise are Lily Sullivan (I Met a Girl), Alyssa Sutherland (The Mist), Morgan Davies (The End), Gabrielle Echols (Reminiscence) and Nell Fisher (Northspur). Original Evil Dead trilogy director Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell are producing, although Campbell will not be reprising his role as Ash Wiliams.

Evil Dead Rise is set for release on April 21st 2023.
