Fantastic Beasts sequel casting teenage versions of Newt Scamander, Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald and Leta Lestrange

June 10, 2017 by Gary Collinson

The official Pottermore site has announced that Warner Bros. is holding an open casting call for the upcoming sequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 in order to find teenage versions of Newt Scamander, Leta Lestrange, Gellert Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore, along with a new character called Sebastian.

The site reports that the film will feature versions of Newt (Eddie Redmayne) and Leta (Zoe Kravitz) between the ages of 13 and 16, while the producers are seeking actors aged between 16 and 18 for the roles of Dumbledore and Grindelwald. The adult versions of the characters are set to be portrayed by Jude Law and Johnny Depp respectively.

Given these details, it would suggest that the sequel will explore the “close friendship” between Newt and Leta, as well as that of Dumbledore and Grindelwald before they become bitter enemies.

Fantastic Beasts 2 is slated for release on November 16th 2018, and will see the return of Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein) and Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone), as well as Zoe Kravitz as Leta Lestrange, Johnny Depp as Gellert Grindelwald, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore and Callum Turner as Theseus Scamander.
