Father and son duo Kurt and Wyatt Russell join Godzilla and the Titans TV series

July 21, 2022 by Ricky Church

Apple TV+ has announced that the father-and-son duo of Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell have joined the MonsterVerse, with the pair set to star in the upcoming Godzilla and the Titans series from Apple TV+.

The Russells will star in the as-yet-untitled series alongside Kiersey Clemons (The Flash), Anna Sawai (Pachinko), Joe Tippett (Mare of Easttown), Elisa Lasowski (Versailles) and Ren Watabe.

The series will explore the aftermath of “the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that levelled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real [against] one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”

The Russells have both starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Kurt Russell as Star-Lord’s father and antagonist Ego in Gurdians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the animated series Marvel’s What If…? while Wyatt Russell starred in the Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier as the new Captain America. Kurt most recently starred in F9: The Fast Saga while Wyatt Russell is currently in the limited series Under The Banner of Heaven.

Matt Shakman (WandaVision) will direct the first two episodes of the Godzilla series which has been co-created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction. Black will serve as showrunner while he and Fraction will also be executive producers alongside Safehouse Pictures Joby Harold and Tory Turnell and Takemasa Arita of Toho Co. Ltd., the owners of the Godzilla character.

This is not the only MonsterVerse project currently in development as a sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong has recently been given a 2024 release date whil Netflix recently released a first-look teaser image for its anime series Skull Island.
