First-look at Javicia Leslie as the new Batwoman revealed

September 26, 2020 by Ricky Church

As Batwoman gears up for production on its second season, DC has revealed the first look at Javicia Leslie’s new character Ryan Wilder, who is taking over cape and cowl from Kate Kane after the departure of Ruby Rose. Check it out below…

Though Leslie’s Wilder seems to be wearing the same Batwoman costume as Kate Kane, showrunner Caroline Dries did confirm during DC Fandome that Wilder would create her own take on the costume throughout the season:

“How can we be sure that Ryan isn’t hiding what makes her awesome, with this suit? So it’s going to be a bit of an evolution. We’ll see the suit evolve early on in the season. Ryan is like, ‘For me to feel empowered in this thing, it needs to feel like it’s representing something I’m fighting for.”

Joining Leslie in the upcoming second season of Batwoman are Shivani Ghai (Dominion), Leah Gibson (Jessica Jones) and Nathan Owens (Devious Maids), while Rachel Skarsten (Alice), Camrus Johnson (Luke Fox), Meagan Tandy (Sophie Moore) and Nicole Kang (Mary Hamilton) reprise their roles from season one.
