Freakier Friday sets August 2025 release

Disney’s anticipated sequel Freakier Friday has been given a release date with the Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis film set for August 8th, 2025. Below you can see the first photo has been releasing with a recreation of one of the most iconic images from Freaky Friday.

Freakier Friday picks up over 20 years after Freaky Friday which saw Lohan and Curtis’ mother-daughter dup of Anna and Tess swapping bodies and their attempts to set things back to normal, learning more about each other and their own lives in the process. The sequel will see Anna with a family of her own as she and Tess swap bodies with Anna’s daughter Harper and her soon-to-be step-daughter Lily with Manny Jacinto playing Anna’s fiancé Eric Davis.

Freakier Friday is directed by Nisha Ganatra (High Note) from a script by Jordan Weiss (Dollface). Curtis is producing with Kristin Burr and Andrew Gunn while Lohan will serve as an executive producer alongside Nathan Kelly and Ann Marie Sanderlin.

A sequel to the beloved 2003 film with a multigenerational twist, the film picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.

Freakier Friday reunites original stars Lindsay Lohan, Jamie Lee Curtis, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao with newcomers Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Manny Jacinto.

Freakier Friday will be released in theatres on August 8th, 2025.
