Futurama returning for one-off podcast episode

September 10, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Futurama is set to return next week, albeit in audio form, as Nerdist reunites creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen for a single, 42-minute ‘radiorama’ episode which will debut on the Nerdist Podcast on September 14th.

The new episode ties in with the newly-released mobile game Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow from TinyCo and will see Fry, Bender, Leela, Professor Farnsworth, Zoidberg, Amy, and Hermes encountering the Klaxxon, ““a nefarious life form composed entirely of soundwaves from 21st-century podcasts”, who is out to destroy the Earth with its soundwaves.

Futurama originally aired for four seasons between 1999 and 2003, before being revived in 2007 for four direct-to-video films which were subsequently syndicated as a fifth season on Comedy Central. A sixth and seventh season aired between 2010 and 2013.
