Gina Carano thought she would be playing a Wookiee in The Mandalorian

December 3, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Gina Carano, one of the stars of The Mandalorian, initially thought she might be playing a Wookiee.

With all the bizarre creatures, puppets, masks and CGI monsters that are a part of the Star Wars universe, it’s not surprising some actors might wonder if their face will ever be shown when they sign up for a role.

This is something that former MMA star turned actress Gina Carano thought about when she agreed to star in The Mandalorian. The actress plays a former Rebel trooper but told Vanity Fair she was surprised her face is seen on screen: “I thought I was going to be like the female Chewbacca. I was surprised to find that I was one of the few people that you were actually going to see her face.”

Carano’s character Cara Dune made her debut in last week’s episode of the show, teaming up with the Mando to help protect a farming community. Let us know in the comments below if you’re hoping to see more of her in season one…
