Idris Elba and David Leitch hoping to make a Bang! with Netflix spy thriller

August 4, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Described on the front cover by none other than Keanu Reeves as “a great fucked up blend of James Bond and Tintin”, Netflix have turned to the man who orchestrated some of John Wick‘s finest moments, David Leitch, to bring to life Dark Horse Entertainment’s Bang!, with Idris Elba in lead role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Matt Kindt will adapt his own comic series for the small-screen alongside Bullet Train scribe Zak Olkewicz. Deadpool 2‘s Leitch will direct Elba and attempt to make sense of a Dark Horse synopsis that reads “A best-of-the-best secret agent with memories he couldn’t possibly possess, a mystery writer in her 60s who spends her retirement solving crimes, a man of action with mysterious drugs that keep him ahead of a constant string of targeted disasters, a seemingly omnipotent terrorist organization that might be behind it all . . . And they’re all connected to one man: a science-fiction author with more information than seems possible, whose books may hold the key to either saving reality or destroying it.”

No stranger to comic book adaptations, Elba has starred in MCU’s Thor series, DC’s The Suicide Squad, and as far back as 2010 was in DC Comics adaptation The Losers. Next up for him is some The Ghost and The Darkness level lion taming in late-summer blockbuster Beast.

The Bang! producers are Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg for Dark Horse Entertainment, Leitch and Kelly McCormick for 87 North and Elba.
