Is Marvel teasing Ghost Rider for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4? Probably not…

June 24, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Back in 2013, it was announced that the rights to The Punisher, Luke Cage and Ghost Rider had reverted to Marvel Studios. Since then, we’ve seen both The Punisher and Luke Cage making their MCU debuts in Daredevil and Jessica Jones respectively (and both have their own Netflix series incoming), while rumours – or speculation – persist that Ghost Rider could be heading to the smalls creen at some point in the future.

Well, Marvel itself has now fueled to that speculation further, sharing an image for an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. train at the San Diego Comic-Con, which appears to show Ghost Rider’s chain:

Now, before Ghost Rider fans get too excited, the above chain has previously been seen in season three of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as the weapon of the Inhuman character Hellfire, so it’s likely that the image is teasing a larger role for that character, rather than the introduction of the Ghost Rider.

Interestly, Hellfire does have a comic book connection to Ghost Rider, being the grandson of Carter Slade, the first character to use that moniker before Marvel changed his name to the Phantom Rider following the introduction of Johnny Blaze.

Would you like to see Ghost Rider on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Or would he be a better fit for the Netflix universe? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
