Ryan Gosling is already going to space with Star Wars, but is he also meeting some galactic clowns?
There are rumblings that Amazon MGM Studios, which holds the rights to Killer Klowns from Outer Space, is seeking a remake. The biggest surprise, though, is hearing Ryan Gosling is attached to the project.
In a report from The InSneider, Gosling would serve as a producer for the remake, bringing a new take on the horror-comedy created by the Chiodo Bros in 1988 to life. There’s been no confirmation on the news yet, but it would be one of the strangest pairings.
The Chiodo Brothers have been trying to get a continuation off the ground since the late 80s. Yet, the new popularity the franchise has seen recently is propelling interest in the cult classic. If you go to any Spirit Halloween in the last few years, you can’t miss the endless stream of merch and decorations. It’s wild to see this weird little cult film hit a new level of fame, but it seems like Amazon MGM Studios is aware of this as well.
Back in 2021, Stephen Chiodo had explained how long they’ve tried to make this happen: “We have been trying to get the sequel going since 1988. And Hollywood is just a horrible machine. The film didn’t really get much box office…and when you want to get a sequel done, they look at the box office. They don’t regard cult films as something to invest in.”
