KJ Apa and Isabel May are DC’s Wonder Twins

April 17, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Back in February it was announced that HBO Max has activated a live-action Wonder Twins movie from Warner Bros. and DC Films, and now we have our titular alien siblings with KJ Apa (Riverdale) and Isabel May (1883) set to play Zan and Jayna in The Wonder Twins.

The movie is being directed by Black Adam co-writer Adam Sztykiel from his own script, and will revolve around the two young superheroes in training who were created as sidekicks to the Justice League in the classic Hanna-Barbera 1970s animated series Super Friends.

Zan and Jayna are aliens from the planet Exxor who – along with their pet pet monkey Gleek – arrive on Earth where they pose as exchange students whilst using their shape-shifting powers (Zan can transform into any state of water while Jayna can become any animal) to fight crime.

The Wonder Twins will mark the characters’ first live-action feature film outing, although they have previously appeared in live-action in Smallville, with David Gallagher as Zan and Allison Scagliotti as Jayna.

Filming on The Wonder Twins is set to get underway in Atlanta this summer ahead of an HBO Max exclusive streaming release, presumably at some point in 2023.
