Isaiah Mustafa wants a role in Marvel’s Luke Cage season 2

December 30, 2016 by Justin Cook

If Isaiah Mustafa had it his way, he’d be joining Mike Colter in the next season of Netflix’s hit series Marvel’s Luke Cage.

Comicbook.com sat down with the Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments actor, who campaigned for the role of Luke Cage with the help of his fans before Colter was cast and won over audiences in Marvel’s Jessica Jones, and asked him if he’d be interested in playing a role in the show’s upcoming second season. Mustafa replied, “I mean, why not? Definitely, I’d play anything on that. I just love the characters so much that I really just want to be a part of it in some way. Just get an opportunity to just play in that world, but I think the direction they went was probably the best direction they could have went. But yes, I would love to be involved in any aspect of any Marvel production. It would just be fun.”

Mustafa would make a nice addition to the cast of Luke Cage and the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (although Marvel has still yet to acknowledge the Netflix shows in their films) and fans would certainly approve of his casting in the show if it were to happen.

In addition to Shadowhunters, Mustafa has appeared in various movies and TV shows over the years, including Chuck, Horrible Bosses and The Three Stooges, however, to this day, the majority of people stateside know him as “The Old Spice Guy” in “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” marketing campaign for Old Spice Body Wash. Rarely is an actor more known for their work in a series of commercials than movies or TV shows, but such is the case for Mustafa.

Mustafa’s Shadowhunters co-star Harry Shum Jr. also expressed interest in playing a role in a superhero film/TV show if he were given the opportunity.
