James Gunn teases Peacemaker Season 2 and new “equally magnificent” opening credits

January 9, 2024 by EJ Moreno

With the semi-reboot of the DC Universe ahead of us, fans are worried about the characters carrying over from the DCEU into the new brand and whether it will be easy to follow.

One of the most significant talking points is Peacemaker and how the second season will unfold now that it’s part of a new story universe. DC Studios co-chair and Superman Legacy director James Gunn says fear not, as there’s nothing too confusing about going down.

Gunn was asked on Threads if Peacemaker Season 2 would be “totally different” due to the reboot, and the filmmaker teased that it’s all about the waiting game. He replies, “You’ll have to wait and see how that works out!”

When asked why he doesn’t spend time with a new DC show, Gunn says Peacemaker is too special to ignore:

“Because it’s my favorite thing to do, it’s the biggest original Max show ever, and I have a way in. It won’t be confusing.”

There’s no information about the second season, but he promises the second season will have a different but “equally magnificent” opening credits sequence. Check out the now-iconic opener for Peacemaker Season 1…

Peacemaker sees John Cena reprising his role from The Suicide Squad as Christopher Smith, the titular ‘Peacemaker,’ alongside co-stars Steve Agee (John Economos) and Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt). New additions include Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Chukwudi Iwuji (News of the World), Lochlyn Munro (Scary Movie), Annie Chang (Shades of Blue), Christopher Heyerdahl (Van Helsing), Elizabeth Ludlow (The Walking Dead), Rizwan Manji (Schitt’s Creek), Nhut Le (Raven’s Home), Alison Araya (Riverdale), Lenny Jacobson (For All Mankind), and Freddie Stroma (Bridgerton).

Peacemaker is now streaming on Max.
