Jason Statham returning for The Beekeeper 2 under director Timo Tjahjanto

March 2, 2025 by EJ Moreno

The Beekeeper Hive is buzzing as the sequel is confirmed to have Jason Statham back. This week, it was announced that Statham will star in The Beekeeper 2, a follow-up to the 2024 film, which he will produce through Punch Palace Productions.

Iconic indie filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto is taking over directing duties from David Ayer. Tjahjanto is best known for the 2016 actioner Headshot, 2018’s The Night Comes for Us, and co-directed and co-wrote the V/H/S/2 segment Safe Haven with Gareth Evans. We’ll next see Tjahjanto’s directing efforts in this year’s Nobody 2.

The Beekeeper grossed an impressive $153 million at the global box office, and the actioner received positive reviews [read our review here]. It gained a bit of a cult following online, and die-hard Statham fans gravitated toward the project. The story follows a man (played by Jason Statham) with a mysterious past who seeks revenge after a personal loss. He is soon drawn into a deadly game that sees him taking on a world of killers and conspiracies in the political world.
