Jessica Biel replaces Elisabeth Moss in Hulu’s true crime drama Candy

October 10, 2021 by Gary Collinson

With The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss dropping out of the project due to scheduling issues, Hulu has now enlisted Jessica Biel to lead the cast of the upcoming true crime limited series Candy.

Created by Robin Veith and Nick Antosca (The Act), the series takes place in 1980 Texas and will see Biel as Candy Montgomery, a woman who seemingly had it all – a loving husband, family and nice house in the suburbs – until the brutal axe murder of her church friend Betty Gore.

Candy marks Biel’s latest TV role following USA Network’s The Sinner. In addition to starring, she will also serve as executive producer alongside Veith, Antosca, and Michael Uppendahl (Impeachment: American Crime Story), the latter of whom is also directing the pilot.
