Jon Bernthal on whether Shane could make an appearance in Fear the Walking Dead

January 18, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Could Jon Bernthal’s Shane make an appearance in Fear the Walking Dead? The actor has weighed in with his opinion.

Bernthal’s performance as Shane in The Walking Dead was one that brought him to the attention of mainstream audiences and his career has gone from strength to strength ever since being killed off in season 2.

The question was put to Bernthal if his old character could turn up on the spin off Fear the Walking Dead, a possibility considering other characters have crossed over and the timelines don’t align.

Unfortunately for fans of Shane, Bernthal doesn’t seem to think it will happen, saying as much when asked by Daily Express (via ComicBook.com): “I loved Shane and whilst I’m super grateful I got to do that, he was a character that had a beginning, middle and end, and I got a whole rounded opportunity. I feel like we’ve seen all we need to see of Shane. If we got to see him backwards – that would be interesting. But Shane died in that field. Doing the show and being killed off the show are two of the best things that have happened in my career.”

He’s not wrong, about the character or his career trajectory. These days Bernthal has his own series, starring in The Punisher for Netflix, as well as making appearances in a number of high profile feature films.
