Joseph Gordon-Levitt to direct Anne Hathaway in AI thriller

December 7, 2024 by Ricky Church

After starring together over a decade ago in The Dark Knight Rises, Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are re-teaming for a new project. According to Deadline, Gordon-Levitt will direct Hathaway in an AI thriller for Rian Johnso’s T-Street Productions.

Plot details are unknown as is the title of the film at this time. What we do know is the script is written by Gordon-Levitt and Kieran Fitzgerald, who wrote the Oliver Stone and Gordon-Levitt-led Snowden, with a story credit from actress and writer Natasha Lyonne.

Gordon-Levitt has had a long working career with Johnson dating back nearly two decades. Gordon-Levitt starred in Johnson’s directorial indie film Brick and then later led his time-travelling sci-fi thriller Looper where he played a young version of Bruce Willis’ hitman.

The actor has been moving into writing and directing for several years now, first with his feature film debut Don Jon and more recently the Apple TV+ series Mr. Corman which only lasted one season.

Johnson, meanwhile, is currently producing Poker Face which stars Lyonne and wrapped the third Knives Out film Wake Up Dead Man earlier this year. Hathaway is also set to reunite with Christopher Nolan on his next film at Universal.
