Katee Sackhoff says there’s a reason why Axe Woves wasn’t in The Mandalorian season finale

January 26, 2021 by Samuel Brace

Katee Sackhoff, who played Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian season two, says there is a reason why Axe Woves didn’t show up in the finale.

The season finale of The Mandalorian may have released back in December but that doesn’t mean Star Wars fans aren’t still thinking about the epic episode and asking questions about what happened.

There was a bunch of familiar faces in the episode – including some of Din’s fellow Mandalorians, like Bo-Katan and Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks). But one Mandalorian surprisingly missing was Axe Woves (Simon Kassianides), a new character that was with the aforementioned pair earlier in the season.

So, where was he? Why wasn’t he invited along in the mission to rescue Grogu and take back the Darksaber from Moff Gideon? Well, Bo-Katan actress Katee Sackhoff says there’s a reason but she won’t say what it is. Speaking on the Sith Council podcast, she said:

“He just wasn’t there! He just wasn’t there and there’s a reason. It’s just one of those things where I don’t know if that story is something I’m supposed to tell. So he’s just not there.”

The fact that Sackhoff knows why Woves wasn’t present in the episode surely means that the character will be seen again down the line and an explanation will be presented. Whether this occurs in season three, in a different Star Wars show, or in another medium entirely, will remain to be seen.

The Mandalorian season two sees the returning Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Bill Burr (Mayfield), and Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand) joined by the likes of Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones), Katee Sackhoff (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Michael Biehn (The Terminator), Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), and WWE Superstar Sasha Banks.
