Léa Seydoux joins the cast of Dune: Part Two

June 21, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Denis Villeneuve is once again assembling an impressive cast for the concluding part of his science-fiction opus Dune with the news that Léa Seydoux has joined the cast as Lady Margot.

According to Deadline Crimes of the Future‘s Seydoux is in negotiations to play the crucial role of Lady Margot, who is a vital ally to Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) in his war with the House of Harkonnen.

Dune: Part Two will pick up where the first film left off as Paul and Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), join Arrakis’ native Fremen population and fight against the Harkonnen’s rule of Arrakis and plan to draw out the Emperor in order to avenge Paul’s father.

Seydoux would be joining a cast that includes Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam, the main antagonist of the sequel, Florence Pugh as his daughter Princess Irulan, and Elvis star Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Baron Harkonnen’s cunning nephew, who he is grooming to succeed him as ruler of Arrakis and House Harkonnen.

Dune: Part Two will begin filming this summer in Budapest, with Villeneuve returning to direct from a script he wrote alongside Jon Spaihts. The first part grossed an impressive pandemic effected $400M at the worldwide box-office for Warner Bros. and Legendary.

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

Dune is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049) and sees Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Dave Bautista , Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Jason Momoa, Josh Brolin, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sharon Duncan-Brewster and Chang Chen returning from Part One and Christopher Walken (Pulp Fiction), Léa Seydoux (Crimes of the Future), Florence Pugh (Black Widow) and Austin Butler (Elvis) joining the cast.

Dune: Part Two is slated for release on October 20th 2023.
