Walt Disney Studios has tapped Christopher Robin director Marc Forster to helm its live-action feature adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s bestselling novel The Graveyard Book.
Published in 2008, The Graveyard Book “tells the story of Nobody “Bod” Owen, a young boy who is raised by the ghosts and supernatural beings of a graveyard – including, the graveyard’s caretaker Silas – after his family is murdered.”
Disney had previously set David Magee (Mary Poppins Returns) to script the adaptation, and Forster will direct as well as producing with his regular producing partner Renée Wolfe. The project reunites Forster and Magee following their work on Finding Neverland, along with the upcoming Tom Hanks film A Man Called Otto.
Next up from Forster is his Wonder sequel White Bird, which is currently in post-production alongside A Man Called Otto. White Bird is slated for release in October, with Otto following in December.
