Mark Ruffalo and Karl Urban talk Thor: Ragnarok

May 25, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Last week, Marvel officially announced the cast for next year’s Phase Three threequel Thor: Ragnarok, and now two of the stars of the God of Thunder’s next solo adventure have been discussing the film in Mark Ruffalo, who will be reprising the role of The Hulk, and new addition Karl Urban, who is set to portray Skurge the Executioner.

“It’s an intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor,” Ruffalo tells E! Online. “I think it will be smashing. You’ll see a lot more Hulk. The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger. [Cate Blanchett] plays the worst of the worst. So evil. She is going to kill us. [Hela] is such a great part she gets to play.”

“I read a fantastic script that was action packed and full of great characters,” Urban tells IGN. “When I heard who was involved, and the opportunity to work with Taika Waititi, who I think is one of the most brilliant directors coming through, I made the decision it was something that I wanted to be a part of. The character is fantastic and he’s got a great arc to him. Obviously I can’t say too much about it but I’m really thrilled to be a part of the Marvel universe and to be working on Thor: Ragnarok.”

Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) and will star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster and Karl Urban as Skurge. It is set for release on November 3rd, 2017.
