Marvel may release Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man footage

September 13, 2012 by admin

British filmmaker Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) caused quite a stir back in July when he screened a reel of test footage for his long-in-development Ant-Man adaptation during Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International. For those of us not fortunate enough to attend the SDCC, Marvel executive Victoria Alonso has now given fans hope that we may eventually get to see the footage somewhere down the line.

“What we showed at Comic-Con was a work in progress,” Alonso told Omelete (via Collider). “We’re working on finishing it, and I think you might see it. Not sure where, but we always listen to the fans. And if the fans demand it we make sure they get it. I don’t know if we are going to post it online, but I don’t have [any reason] to believe we may not.”

In addition to teasing the release of the footage, Alonso confirmed that Wright will direct the picture and is “going to do one movie before” [whether that includes the currently-in-production final ‘Three Flavours Cornetto’ installment The World’s End remains unclear], and also took a moment to address the rumours of Viggo Mortensen (The Lord of the Rings, A History of Violence) being lined up as a possible candidate to appear in Thor: The Dark World as the Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange:

“We would love to work with Viggo Mortensen. I’ve been trying that for years. But I don’t know if Viggo is even acting anymore. I thought he wasn’t acting anymore. It would be great to work with him in the future, but we don’t have him signed, no.”

Hmm… Not exactly a denial, then.
