Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger to resume production this July

June 9, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Production Weekly is reporting that filming on Freeform’s upcoming Marvel series Cloak & Dagger is to resume next month in New Orleans and will last through to October.

Although there have been rumours that the show has been renewed for a second season, those reports are inaccurate as the shoot is actually covering the remaining nine episodes of the first season. Only the pilot episode was filmed back in February, under director Gina Prince-Bythewood, who will soon be helming Sony’s Spidey spinoff Silver & Black.

Cloak & Dagger is the first of two Marvel series in the works at Freeform, with the cable network also ordering the half-hour comedy series New Warriors to air in 2018.

“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” is a coming-of-age series based on the beloved Marvel characters.  Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson come from starkly different backgrounds, each growing up with a secret they never dared share with another soul.

Once a privileged little girl, Tandy Bowen watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, an unexpected encounter with a boy named Tyrone sparks a life changing event.

Young Tyrone Johnson wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered, Tyrone closes himself off. But when he meets a girl named Tandy his life changes forever.

Cloak & Dagger stars Aubrey Joseph (The Night Of) and Olivia Holt (Kickin’ It) as the two young heroes, while the rest of the cast includes Andrea Roth (Rescue Me, Blue Bloods), Gloria Reuben (ER, Mr. Robot), Miles Mussenden (Bloodline, Queen Sugar), Carl Lundstedt (Grey’s Anatomy, Conviction), James Saito (Life of Pi, The Devil’s Advocate) and J.D. Evermore (True Detective, The Walking Dead). The ten episode series is slated to premiere in early 2018.
