Marvel’s What If…? to feature Jeffrey Wright as The Watcher alongside huge MCU voice cast

July 21, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Last night at the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios confirmed that it is working on an animated Disney+ series entitled What If…?.

The series will take inspiration from the comic books of the same name with each episode exploring a pivotal moment from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, albeit with a twist that takes the audience into uncharted territory.

The big news for the series is that Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, Bond 25) is set to lend his voice to The Watcher, who will serve as host of the show alongside an insanely stacked cast of MCU veterans, which includes:

Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Josh Brolinas Thanos, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Taika Waititi as Korg, Toby Jones as Arnim Zola, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, and Michael Rooker as Yondu.

Marvel’s What If…? will premiere on Disney+ in mid 2021.
