Naomi Watts set for Feud season 2 with Gus Van Sant directing

April 4, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Ryan Murphy and FX have set a second season of their anthology series Feud, with Naomi Watts set to lead the cast of Feud: Capote’s Women, which has Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) directing and Jon Robin Baitz (Brothers & Sisters) writing and showrunning.

Based on Laurence Leamer’s bestselling book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era, the new season will chronicle “the tale of the famous wunderkind author as he stabs several of his female friends — whom he called his “swans” — in the back by publishing a roman à clef short story called La Côte Basque 1965 in Esquire in 1975.”

Watts is set to portray socialite Barbara ‘Babe’ Paley, while a search is underway for an actor to portray Truman Capote. According to Deadline, “other Oscar-nominated and winning actresses” are being approached to play members of Capote’s ‘Socialite Swans’, with casting expected to heat up this week.

The first season of Murphy’s Feud – Feud: Bette and Joan – aired back in 2017 and focussed on the rivalry between Hollywood stars Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon).
