Natalie Portman seemingly confirms Jane Foster’s cancer storyline for Thor: Love and Thunder

October 10, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Natalie Portman, one of the stars of Thor: Love and Thunder, says she is currently training for the movie and has seemingly confirmed that the sequel will incorporate Jane Foster’s cancer storyline from the comic books.

After Taika Waititi’s work on Thor: Ragnarok, a lot of people can’t wait to see its sequel Thor: Love and Thunder. The movie will see the return of Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, where she will even gain the ability to wield Thor’s hammer Mjolnir, becoming a superhero herself, as seen in Marvel’s Mighty Thor comic books.

To prepare for her new heroic role, Portman says she is needing to pack on some muscle and told Yahoo that she is currently training to do so: “I can’t tell you that much. I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is.”

It seems that Foster wielding Mjolnir won’t be the only element from the source material incorporated into Love and Thunder either, as Portman went on to state that: “It’s based on the graphic novel of the Mighty Thor. She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side.”
