Netflix shelves Adam McKay’s Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Pattinson project Average Height, Average Build

December 5, 2023 by Matt Rodgers

Netflix has decided not to move forward with Adam McKay’s planned serial killer comedy Average Height, Average Build, which was to feature a star-studded cast headlined by Robert Pattinson and Robert Downey Jr.

According to Deadline the Anchorman director will no longer be making Average Height, Average Build, which McKay had brought to the streamer, and there is no plan to find a replacement filmmaker, or make the film at a future date.

The report states that McKay intends to make his next directorial project a climate-related movie similar to 2021’s Don’t Look Up.

As well as the impressive one-two of Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Pattinson, Average Height, Average Build was also set to star Amy Adams, Forest Whitaker, and Danielle Deadwyler.

The film would have followed Pattinson as a serial killer who enlists a lobbyist (Adams) to change laws that will allow him to get away with murder more easily. Downey Jr. would have played the retired cop who won’t give up on the murders, and the killer tries to prevent him from dogging his trail now that he’s hung up his gun.
