New Doctor Who audio adventures for the Seventh Doctor coming from Big Finish in June

March 20, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Past Forward, the next box set in The Seventh Doctor Adventures series, will be arriving on Big Finish this June. Seventh Doctor fans will be able to enjoy three brand-new episodes of full-cast audio adventures that mark an important point in the story of Sylvester McCoy’s incarnation of the Time Lord.

The Doctor’s journey with Harry Sullivan (Christopher Naylor) and Naomi Cross (Eleanor Crooks) is coming to an end but a new companion is set to arrive for future adventures.  Ray (Sara Griffiths), a motobike enthusiast first appeared back in 1987 in the TV story Delta and the Bannermen, and later travelled with the Doctor in the Classic Doctors New Monsters box set Faithful Friends, will be joining the Seventh Doctor.

The three new adventures in the box set are:

‘With the Angels, Part 1’ by John Dorney takes the Doctor and his companions back to Earth but then find themselves recruited by UNIT for a special mission to face a new breed of Weeping Angels.  It will take everything the Doctor and his friends have if they are to survive betrayal and manipulation.

In ‘Catastrophix’ by Lizzie Hopley Harry Sullivan and Naomi Cross find themselves on Earth at two different points in a timeline that has gone crazy. Harry is back in the Lake District unaware of the horrors that await, while Naomi is adrift in an ocean of an apocalyptic nightmare. As the Doctor searches through time for them, he comes across a friend from the past, a mechanic called Ray.

Finally, in ‘With the Angels, Part 2’ by John Dorney, the time for the final battle with the Weeping Angels arrives, this time on a super-yacht owned by the Bladukas family.  Fortunately, the Doctor is on the guest list, but can he avert tragedy.

Script editor Matt Fitton said: “I’ve been looking at how we might reintroduce Ray to the Doctor for quite a while now, but couldn’t pin down the practicalities of using the character. At last, however, the stars have aligned and we can welcome Sara Griffiths back to Doctor Who. I’ve chatted with her about Ray’s new direction and what she might have been up to in the intervening years, and we have plans… So yes, Ray the mechanic is back, some 20 years after Delta and The Bannermen – still revving her bike into adventure!”

The Seventh Doctor Adventures: Past Forward is available to pre-order now for £19.99 for the download and £24.99 for the download and the limited edition collector’s edition CD box set.  Visit the Big Finish website to see the special priced bundles available.
