Pacific Rim 2 is back on track and gets a new director

February 24, 2016 by admin

Fans of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim were elated to hear that we were going back to the war of Kaijus vs. Jaegers with Pacific Rim 2, but those dreams were dashed when it was announced the movie was officially delayed.

Well, it looks like it’s back on track.

Del Toro tweeted out that we should expect to hear some big news about the movie very soon, and now Deadline are reporting that Steven DeKnight has been hired to helm Pacific Rim 2. DeKnight was the showrunner for Spartacus and the first season of Marvel’s Daredevil, and Pacific Rim 2 will be his big screen directorial debut. This was confirmed by Del Toro again on Twitter.

This probably lays to rest the rumours late last year that there were plans for Godzilla vs. King Kong vs. Pacific Rim.

Good news will break soon on Pacific Rim 2!! Stay tuned!!

There’s little known about Pacific Rim 2, but del Toro has stated that he wants Maisie Williams to have a major role in the film, and it’s expected that Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman and Ron Pearlman will return.
