One of Batman’s most infamous femme fatales may be getting her very own series as word has come DC Studios is in early development of a Poison Ivy TV series for HBO.
Born Pamela Isley, she was an accomplished scientist and botanist with a deep love of plants until an accident gave her control of plantlife as well as a higher pheromone level, letting her not only seduce anyone but making her kiss deadly. As a villain she led a crusade against humanity and those who would harm plants and forests, but recent years have seen her become an anti-hero as well as entering a romantic relationship with Harley Quinn, becoming one of comics most beloved and popular queer couples.
According to Deadline, The Penguin showrunner and executive producer Lauren LeFranc will be involved in the series as a producer with no writers or other producers yet attached. The series will also be separate from Matt Reeves’ The Batman saga and presumably take place in James Gunn’s DCU.

The villainess made her introduction in the Batman comics in 1966 from Carmine Infantino and Robert Kanigher. She has only made it to the big screen once before in 1997’s Batman & Robin with Uma Thurman in the role while several actresses played Poison Ivy in the TV series Gotham and Batwoman. On the animation side, Diane Pershing voiced Poison Ivy for several years in Batman: The Animated Series and across the DCAU while Lake Bell has portrayed her in the adult animated series Harley Quinn, marking the first time Harley and Ivy’s relationship has been brought to the forefront in a Batman-related series.
Should Poison Ivy be greenlit it will join the ranks of Peacemaker and Lanterns, the latter of which recently concluded its first season, as DCU series along with the animated Creature Commandos and upcoming Mister Miracle. The DCU films are still in their infancy with only Superman, Supergirl and now Clayface having been released. Next summer will see the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow fly into theatres with David Corenswet and Milly Alcock reprising their super roles.
